Typical… And I was depressed because I didn't know whether to cut them or not, I hated them and I didn't know what to do, so I decided to braid them. As soon as I got back to Italy, I couldn't stand seeing them like that or feeling them like that because they really hurt me and so I asked my hairdresser to cut off all the ends.
So I was left with 3cm of hair all over my head and that same day I decided to braid them again because I couldn't get used to my new image. It took some time, but then I got used to seeing myself with short hair, I spent a year getting to know my curls, without wearing wigs and for now I'm fine like that but this doesn't exclude that I can go back to wearing protective hairstyles.

I remember my mother when I went to kindergarten, every morning she would do my hair and put beads on me and I remember that all the children were happy to see me with these pacifiers, even the teachers were fascinated by the fact that my mother worked hard every day to make me look so beautiful.
Have you ever been the victim of one of the most classic micro-aggressions: hands in the hair... At school they tried but since I am a person who does not like physical contact they did not even try to touch my hair because I blocked them immediately!
Instead, when I went to university I had some unpleasant episodes. During the first year, in fact, my classmates had only seen me with braids, crochet braids and then at a certain point I started to wear my hair natural and I remember that a classmate of mine put her hand in the middle of my head saying: "oh my God, how cool, how soft!" and I turned away annoyed.
However, I have noticed that in general now that I have short hair people do not touch it anymore, when up until a year ago I did twists people were very curious but those who know me always asked me permission and I replied: "if you really have to, if you want to feel this great sensation!".
In general, I only have a bad experience when they don't ask me permission. I can understand that a white person (editor's note) might be curious about approaching a different world, but you always need to respect the person.
